PRE-TREATMENT
- Discontinue Aspirin three days before treatment.
- Notify our office of any new prescription medications at least 48 hours in advance of your treatment date. Some medications are contraindicated with Laser treatments and we may need to reschedule your appointment.
- Shave 1-day before treatment. We do not need stubble. If you require shaving this requires extra time and must be scheduled in advance. A $25 – $50 shaving fee will apply.
- Avoid sunbathing or tanning including self-tanners and spray tans for 2-4 weeks prior to the procedure. When going outdoors wear sunscreen greater than SPF 30 and a protective hat. Reapply sunscreen whenever outdoors for 2 hours or more.
- Cold sores must be treated and healed before treatment.
- Do not wax, pluck, tweeze, or Nair the treatment area.
- If you have had previous problems with any type of laser therapy, are prone to scarring, or have a history of post-inflammatory pigmentation (darkening of the skin after injury), please inform the medical staff during consultation.
DAY OF TREATMENT
- Do not use creams, oils, perfumes, cosmetic products, etc. on the treatment site.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not rub the treatment area.
- The treatment area will be marked if necessary.
- If the area to be treated is sensitive a topical anesthetic cream will be prescribed and will need to be applied to the treatment area(s) for at least 30 minutes to one hour prior to the treatment. The fee for topical anesthetic cream is $25 for each treatment. If you check in early for topical anesthetic cream, please make sure you notify the front desk of this as soon as you arrive.
- Treatments can last from 15 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the area size.
POST-TREATMENT
- Your next treatment will be in 4- 6 weeks.
- Avoid heat, steam, and hot water for 24 hours.
- Avoid sun exposure to the treated area for 2-4 weeks.
- Apply sunscreen daily as recommended.
- The treated area may be pink for a few hours up to a few days.
- Avoid scrubbing, tweezing, or shaving the area for 48 hours after treatment.
- Some βstubbleβ of treated hair may be apparent for 1-2 weeks. This is treated hair, which will fall out.
- Avoid using irritation deodorants or creams to the affected area for 48 hours or longer if redness or irritation in the skin in observed.
- If you notice a burning sensation after your treatment, you may apply Aloe Vera gel or Cortisone cream to the affected area. If the burning persists for more than 48 hours, please feel free to contact the physician.
- If blistering or bruising occurs, cover the affected with an antibiotic ointment (Bacitracin or Polysporin) and cover with a non-stick bandage until the wound is healed and/or call the office.
- On the third day after the treatment, you may shave, gently loofah or exfoliate to loosen hair that is still embedded in follicles; this will help loosen some of the hair.
- If bruising or blistering is noted, do not shave the area.
